PUBLIC

This collection focuses on spaces in public, but at moments when they feel most private and barren. The people pictured in each frame, however, are there to remind that these spaces are not empty and private, even if the people themselves are blurred or silhouetted as they walk past—anonymous and private in their own right.

Admittedly an idea that sprouted during a particular bout of homesickness, I wanted to illustrate how the transition to college can sometimes feel, especially the subtle reminders that pop up—like walking alone on empty sidewalks—which add to the many jarring aspects of leaving home to be in a new place with new people and new surroundings.
